A short CV
I
was born in Chatellerault, raised in Melle and studied in Lyon to be a biochemist.
I then spent several years in Philadelphia, Berkeley and Paris before setting
up a laboratory in Villefranche sur Mer. I now live in La Gaude near Nice with
Dana. We have 2 sons, Noe and
Nico who are web disigners and graphists and helped with
this site. Noe is doing a film
in Montreal
1964-1968:Biochemical
Engineering degree at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées INSA, Lyon
1968-1969:Research on Cholesterol Metabolism in Cultured Cells with George Rothblat
at the Wistar Institute at the Univ of Pennsylvania , Philadelphia.
1969-1973:PhD in Comparative Biochemistry on Red Cells and Plasma Lipoproteins
with Rosemary Ostwald, Univ. Of California, Berkeley.
1973-1976:Research as EMBO and DGRST Fellow on the structure of membranes with
Vittorio Luzzatti in Gif sur Yvette(CNRS)
1976-1984:Researcher with the Commissariat a l' Energie Atomique at the Station
Zoologique in Villefranche sur Mer. Research on the cellular basis of fresh
water to salt water adaptation of Euryhaline fishes with Jean Maetz
1984-1998: Head of the "Laboratoire de Biologie Cellulaire Marine"
a laboratory unit from CNRS and University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6)
1996-2001”Voyage inside the Cell” a 3D computer animation film made
with Digital Studio is used by Museum and receives Imagina 2000 award for 3D
Virtual reality.
1998-now: Head of the BioMarCell group, part of the BioDev lab Unit of CNRS
and Paris 6 University in Villefranche sur mer.
2000-2003: President of the French Cell Biology Society (SBCF)
and organizer of "Cinema of the cell" a festival of Bioclips
and founding member of the Fédération
Réaumur des Sciences du Vivant.
2001- now: President of Association BioClips and Organizer of "Cinema of
the cell" an annual festival of Bioclips.
2006 “Exploring the Living Cell” a DVD made with Véronique
Kleiner, produced by CNRS Images
2007 Receives “EMBO
Award for Communication in the Life Sciences”.
