The BioDev laboratory (UMR7009) at the Marine Station in Villefranche will host a Live Cell BioImaging conference / workshop during 4 days in Feb. 2011 that is focused on imaging marine specimens (from egg to embryo).
During the workshop several state of the art Zeiss imaging systems will be available for hands-on testing including multiphoton, new generation confocal (LSM780), spinning disc, vivatome, fluorescence macroscope. The team of Pr B. Ducommun (ITAV Toulouse) will also present their experimental SPIM system. In addition, many marine species (jelly fish, sea urchin, ascidian and several planktonic species) will be available for researchers to perform hands-on testing of the different imaging systems. Researchers are also invited to bring their own species that can be housed in our aquarium during the workshop. On site microinjection systems will give researchers the chance of testing a wide range of fluorescent reporter constructs (that will be provided). Running alongside the workshop will be a number of keynote presentations by leading researchers involved in live cell imaging.
Finally, two round tables will take place to discuss the future directions of bioimaging.
